- Former HK Chief ExecutiveTung Chee Hwa states that Beijing understands the students but will not change its position therefore talks will be useless.
- Some protesters are planning to occupy the British consulate on Friday 21 November to call on the British government to give a serious response to the alleged violation of the Sino-British declaration.
- The 'I want genuine universal suffrage' banner has been placed at Mount Everest's base camp at an altitude of 5,360 metres.
- Some controversial banners state demands of the certain protesters as: government must return public space, free election of all Legislative Council members and the Chief Executive Officer's election based from civil nomination.
- Speculation that a police clearance of the protest will occur following APEC has grown with Carrie Lam saying that there is not much time left in addition to Leung Chun-ying saying that the government owes the police a lot of time.
- Chinese President Xi Jinping says he supports Hong Kong’s government’s efforts to safeguard the rule of law and maintain social order. However there is also speculation behind the scenes that Leung Chun-ying's support has weakened in Beijing.
- Joshua Wong has told protesters and the press that more discussion is needed before the Occupy protests can end.
- About 200 pro-democracy protesters watched by police have marched from Central to the China Liaison Office. Protesters tied yellow ribbons to the barricades outside the China Liaison Office.
- Alex Chow says the Hong Kong Federation of Students will write an open letter to the NPC's Rita Fan in an attempt to set up a meeting with the Chinese government.
- Benny Tai has stated that he is preparing to be arrested in the next few weeks over his involvement with the protests.
