Day 44 of the Umbrella Revolution in Hong Kong. (10 November 2014).
- Hong Kong police have said that they will support any High Court decision to enforce injunctions to end the occupation of streets in the protest zones including the use of bailiffs to carry out the court orders. Latest: The High Court has approved injunctions meaning that a clearance is even more likely for Wednesday.
- Wikileaks has released cables claiming to show US involvement with the Occupy Central protests. The cables suggest that US State Department funding was used to support the pro-democracy movement through the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). China has continually warned Western countries against interfering with its 'internal affairs'.
- Small groups of police officers have been spotted walking through the protest zones making observations of the conditions. This is believed to be in preparation of the forced protest clearance following the conclusion of the APEC meetings in Beijing tomorrow.
- A poll commissioned by the Mingpao newspaper (pro-Beijing camp) and conducted by the University of Hong Kong shows that about 70% of Hong Kongers say that it's time for the protesters to leave. About 18% of Hong Kongers have participated in the protest at some point and 39% of Hong Kongers believe that the movement show use another form of protest to fight for their demands.
- A number of items have been thrown from buildings at protesters including broken mobile phones and bottles of urine.
- Benny Mok who has been on a hunger strike for 36 days in support of the pro-democracy movement has told reporters that he will end his protest tomorrow.
- Former Hong Kong chief executive Tung Chee-hwa has vows to seek a peaceful end to Occupy protests whilst fostering social mobility. He is currently part of a Chinese government committee working to identify potential candidates for the 2017 Chief Executive elections in Hong Kong.
- So far 14 individuals have been arrested under Hong Kong's computer crime laws for illegal activities including calling on people to occupy Government House.
- Joshua Wong has spoken regarding an incident overnight at the main protest stage in Admiralty where a number of protesters were prohibited from speaking. The main protest stage is largely controlled by the Hong Kong Federation of Students and Scholarism. The protests who were denied an opportunity to speak claim that they were sent away because they disagreed with the main protest organisers.
- US President Obama has given a carefully worded answer to questions of democracy in Hong Kong saying that he supports human rights and freedoms but also stressed the importance of US-China cooperation as well as the need to avoid violence in Hong Kong.
