Day 48 of the Umbrella Revolution/Movement in Hong Kong. (14 November 2014)
- Hong Kong Federation of Students representatives including Alex Chow, Eason Chung and Nathan Law will be going to Beijing on Saturday and returning on Monday. Lester Shum will remain in Hong Kong.
- The HKFS representatives will carry a petition calling for genuine universal suffrage to Beijing. The students say that they are prepared for any repercussions of their actions.
- Some (pro-government) lawmakers have criticised the students decision to travel to Beijing saying that the central government is well aware of the protesters demands.
- Yellow "I want genuine universal suffrage" banners and posters have sprung up around Shenzhen and Guangzhou.
- Staff from the pro-Beijing television station TVB have been punished for signing an anti-self-censorship petition after the 'dark corner incident' where 7 police officers assaulted protester Ken Tsang in Admiralty. Staff have been demoted and bonuses reduced for speaking out at TVB's stance on the pro-democracy protests.
- The High Court's injunctions are yet to be implemented as notice was delivered today in newspapers and at the indited areas meaning a clearance will be at least after the weekend.
- Barricades are expected to be removed by bailiffs and police on Monday with the Hong Court certifying the injunctions on Friday.
- The High Court will hear an appeal against the injunctions on Saturday. If the appeal against the injunction is accepted, a stay of execution will be granted as well.
- A new Chinese University of Hong Kong survey has shown that public opinion of the Occupy protests have shifted drastically with a greater proportion of Hong Kongers opposing the current protests. Support for the protests is now at 33% down from 37% and opposition is at 44% up from 35% a fortnight ago.
