Day 46 of the Umbrella Revolution/Movement in Hong Kong. (12 November 2014)
  • Protesters remain defiant as the Hong Kong government strengthens its threat of an imminent police crackdown and clearance of the protest occupation zones.
  • Broadcaster RTHK (Radio Television Hong Kong) has been accused by pro-Bejing groups of promoting the Occupy protests and encouraging people to demonstrate on the streets.
  • A Chinese University of Hong Kong survey has found that only 8.9% of people in Hong Kong identify as Chinese whilst 42% see themselves as Hong Kongers and Chinese.
  • Pro-democracy activists in the Occupy protests have started calling on eligible Hong Kong residents to enroll to vote. Currently only half of the eligible population is registered to vote.
  • Police are expected to assist bailiffs in clearing the areas specified by the High Court injunction such as around Admiralty's Citic Tower and Nathan Road before moving onto the wider protest locations.
  • Occupy Central organisers Benny Tai, Chan Kin Man and Chu Yiu Ming have have indicated that they turn themselves into police on November 21 as part of the civil disobedience movement.
  • Pro-democracy supporter Benny has ended has 40 day hunger strike. He has lost 30lbs.
  • US President Obama has met with Chinese President Xi JinPing and said that human rights are universal regardless of locality. Obama also stressed that the US has no involvement in the pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong.
  • Speculation is growing that the protest clearance will take place on Friday and may possibly extend into next week.
  • The police presence around the fringes has increased over the past few days with also reports of many plain clothed officers infiltrating the protest zones.
  • Regina Ip (pro-Beijing lawmaker) has claimed that since the British handover in 1997, the rights and freedoms of Hong Kong have improved and are now even greater than some Western countries.
  • Several attacks on protesters have occurred at the protest sites with Jimmy Lai, owner of the pro-democracy Apple Daily newspaper being hurled animal organs. Police attended the scene and made several arrests.
  • Leung Chun-ying when asked by the press on the clearance plan has responded by saying it's too early to disclose details at the moment. He also said that Beijing fully understands the students and protesters demands.
  • Joshua Wong says that he will stay in the occupied area and is ready to be arrested when the police clear the protest. Benny Tai has said that the Occupy protests has not undermined the rule of law in Hong Kong.
