Umbrella Movement Day 63 Tense scenes in Mongkok as on-street clashes and the 'Shopping Movement' increases

- Claudia Mo, pan-democratic lawmaker has been denied a request for a urgent Legislative Council session to held regarding police brutality by Ip Kwok Him, the chair of the Legislative Council Security Panel. Ip Kwok Him has deemed the matter to be of little urgency.
- Police have responded to protesters with batons and pepper spray after eggs and other items were thrown at officers. A number of arrests have been made as a result of these incidents with officers threatening to increase the level of force if the protesters continue with such actions.
- Specialist police officers including units dealing with terrorism have been seen in Mongkok as protesters continue to randomly attempt to occupy small sections of the streets by using road work barriers and rubbish bins as barricades.
- A small number of protesters have gathered along the Avenue of Stars at Tsim Sha Tsui overnight as a possible attempt to divert police attention away from Mongkok. No incidents or violence occurred and the crowd has dispersed by the morning.
- Police have condemned the Mongkok protests and are repeating warnings to protesters and students to avoid Mongkok at night. Police chiefs also explained that the provocation of officers by radicals and the unlawful gathering on the streets was a reason behind a number of the arrests overnight.
- The Hong Kong government is continuing its silence and holding back from making any concessions in light of the two month long protest. Carrie Lam, Chief Secretary has not responded to pleas from pan-democratic lawmakers at a meeting held on Thursday.
- The Hong Kong Federation of Students has called on people to "bring supplies, prepare equipment" ahead of a major announcement in Admiralty on Sunday. It is believed that this major announcement will signal a potential change of direction for the protest as well as call on protesters/students to increase pressure on the government.
- A recent poll conducted by the MingPao Newspaper has found that only around a quarter of protesters are students. Nearly 70% of protesters considered themselves to be of being between a grassroots to lower-middle class level.
- Scholarism and student leaders have urged protesters to keep calm and be safe. Protesters have been urged not to provoke officers or throw objects at police.
- Crowd numbers in Mongkok remain high as several thousand police continue to patrol the streets. Many people are also using 'shopping' as a 'reason' for gathering in the streets.

- 警方回應抗議者用警棍和胡椒噴霧雞蛋等物品被扔在人員後。許多逮捕已為這些事件的結果與官員威脅要提高力量水平,如果示威者繼續進行這樣的行動。
- 專家警員,包括對付恐怖主義單位在旺角被視為抗議者繼續隨機嘗試使用道路工程屏障和垃圾桶的路障佔據街道小部分。
- 少數示威者已經沿著星光大道尖沙咀通宵聚集作為一個可能嘗試從旺角警方轉移注意力。任何事故或發生暴力,人群已經散去了早晨。
